March into Spring week 2

Ready for fresh air, sunshine, new leaves, and flowers blooming? Well, the Dream Team is right there with you! Our challenge for the month of March is...coincidentally...Marching into Spring. Per usual, we'd love to have you play along with us, and link your own creations to the Inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog, or at the bottom of this post. Play as many times as you'd like. Those of you who work Dreamweaver and/or Stampendous products into your projects receive bonus points, but everyone has an opportunity to be the winner who receives the stencil of their choice.

I must admit I cannot wait for the longer days, the warming of the sun and spring flowers.  

Here's my hint of Spring:

The swirl background stencil swirls into the Daffodils and the stamped image words are Trumpet and ........ trumpets lead to marching............that was my thought process......mmmmmm!!

This is what you will need:-
Green card
Black card
White card

Ribbon
Alcohol pens
Stampendous stamp Trumpet daffodil
Dreamweaver Stencil LX7029
Sentiment stamp Hello

To complete the card:-

1 Take a piece of white card and stamp with black Momento ink pad.  Once dry colour in with colouring medium of your choice.  (I used alcohol pens). When colouring finished put to one side.

2 Take a piece of white card and attach the stencil to this.  I just taped on 2 sides, and then went around all the stencil pattern with a Sakura Black Glaze pen.  Once done leave to dry, when dry start to colour in the design, I used the colours of the rainbow.

3 It is then just a case of matting the daffodils and the stencil design on  to black card.  Stamp the sentiment in black on to white card, matt on to black card and complete the card.

Having just spent 2 full days with Lynell completing the Dreamweaver Certification Part 2.  It is good to just to make a card and share with everyone.

Here is my card:-

This is what you do:-

1 Take piece of A4 white card and cut to 51/2'' X 11 1/2'' and score at 5 1/4'' and fold.

2 Attach the eyelet edge stencil to longer edge of card. (The over hanging edge).

3 Cover the scalloped edge of the stencil with low tack tape, attaching to the card base.  Attach on all 4 sides and use palette knife/ spreader to apply the silver embossing paste.  Remove stencil and place in water for cleaning.

4 Take the Vintage Lilac embossing powder and cover all of the paste design, remove excess poder and return this to the pot.

5 Take heat gun and heat the embossing tinsel, as the paste is wet the heat will cause the paste to bubble and the embossing powder to melt giving a textured finish.  This is the Molten Magic technique but using embossing powder rather than mica powder.  Put the card base to one side.

6 Take the background stencil (Spiral Dots) and use 2 small pieces of low tack tape and attach the stencil to the Black Iris Co-ordinations card stock, using the rubber embossing mat run through the Big Shot (machine of your choice).  The layering of the Big shot plates is as follows:- main base plate of Big Shot, co-ordinations card stock, Stencil, rubber embossing mat plus the 2 Big Shot cutting plates.  Wind through the Big Shot

7 Once this has been done take the the sanding tool and distress the surface with a sanding tool.  The piece is then trimmed down so that the piece fits on to the front of the card.

8 Take a piece piece of white card and stamp the dress on to it, use Momento ink pad and then using the colouring medium of your choice colour the image. ( I used the Deep Violet Chameleon pen).  To add some detail to the dress I used a quickie glue pen and did a number of tiny dots on the bodice and waistline of the dress and then put the Pastel glitter on the top.

10 I used the same pen to colour my pearls, before adding them to the top right and bottom left corner

11 The final piece of decoration was a bow tied with 2 organza ribbons in lilac and lilac with white dots

The card is relatively quick to make and isn't too much over the top.  I hope you like the card.

A total change in themes this month.  I thought I wouldn't do a card but something that could be a small 'present' or thank you.  Dreamweaver Stencils and Stampendous products work so well together, here is my effort combining the two.

What you will need:-

Dreamweaver stencil LJ899
Silver Embossing paste
Palette knife / spreader
Stampendous Stack Art - Kraftboard Angel wings
Stampendous Frantage encrusted purple jewel kit
Small piece of black lace
Low tack tape
Versa Mark ink pad
Lilac acrylic paint
Blending dauber
Distress ink pad - Dusty Concord
Paper flowers
Lilac ribbon

Paint brush

Heat Gun

and here is how to complete the card:-

1 Take the backing  panel from the Stack Art Kraftboard and the tag, remove the internal pieces from the tag and paint the two pieces with the lilac acrylic paint. Cover them completely.

2 Once painted put them to one side to dry.

3 When dry take the backing panel and attach the stencil to it with low tack tape.  Because the panel was small and there were lots of areas the would waste paste I taped the panel on all four sides on the top of the stencil and on the back of the panel. Apply the paste with the palette knife, remove the stencil and put in water ready for cleaning and put the panel to the side to dry.

4 Take the tag and randomly stamp small areas with the Versamark ink pad, scatter the Purple encrusted jewel products on to this.  Use the heat gun to heat the powders and get the textured surface.

5 When the paste has dried take the finger dauber and the Dusty Concorde ink pad and distress the edges of both the panel and tag

6 Cut one of the sayings from the sentiment sheet and go around the edge with the Dusty Concord ink pad blending into the centre so that the cream colour of the card is changed only slightly.

7 To ensure the ink was dry on the panel and tag I used a piece of kitchen paper and gently buffed them to remove any ink still wet.

8 The sentiment panel was attached to the back of the tag covering the aperture, and the tag was then fixed to the back panel with 3D foam squares.

9 I trimmed the wires from the flowers and placed them on to the panel in the bottom left hand corner, I stuck them with a strong wet glue but you could use a hot glue gun.

10 The final step is to tie 2 bows and attach them to the top of the backing panel and the tag

Thats it the project is complete.  Hope you like it.

Birthday Wishes week 5

Welcome to the birth of a new year...2015 to be precise! In honor of that, we've decided that our monthly challenge for January will be Birthday Wishes. Where has January gone.  Here we are with the fifth week of celebrating Birthday wishes cards that we all send.  This post I have used both Dreamweaver and Stampendous products.  I have used different techniques and products so this time I've got Stamping, Embossing, Frantage and basic pasting.

Here's my birthday wish for this week:

This is what I used:-

and this is how I created the card:-

1 Fold an A4 piece of black card in half for the blank card.

2 Cut a black matt about 1/2 inch smaller than the front of card.

3 To get the gold edge around this panel take the versamark ink pad and tap the edge into the pad and then pour some of the Champagne Pearl embossing powder from the Frantage Encrusted Jewel kit onto some scrap paper and tap the versamark edge of the card onto the powder.  Heat this with the Heat Gun. Do the same on all four sides.  The result is a very fine gold edge to your card.

4 Take the 3 patterned pieces of paper/card and stamp the large bloom from the Lovely Garden Stamp set using the Versamark Inl Pad. Cover the image with the Aged gold embossing powder,  tap off the excess and heat from underneath with the heat gun until the powder is melted.  Do this with all 3 pieces of paper.  Once this is done cut the images out but on each layer cut more of the petals away.  These layers will eventually be decoupaged on to the card.  the edges of the cut flowers are distressed using the blending tool and the Versafine Vintage Sepia.  (I did this to make sure that any odd edges of the paper that hadn't been cut away would blend into the design.)  Put the layers together using 3D foam.

5 Take the back panel and randomly scatter the embossing powders and elements from the Frantage Encrusted Jewel Set. Mine were in the top right and bottom left corners and using the heat gun heat from underneath and heat until the embossing powders melt and hold the glitters, etc.

6 The final piece is the sentiment panel, I cut my lace matt out first and again distressed with the Vintage sepia ink and blending tool. I then cut the back panel to go behind the lace panel.  The edges of the black piece was completed as in Step 3.

7 Take another piece of black card and attach the Happy Birthday Stencil to this with low tack tape on all 4 sides.  Apply the gold paste using a palette knife. Remove stencil and put in water for cleaning.  Put the sentiment panel to one side and allow to dry.  Once the panel is dry cut down to size and edge with gold as in Step 3.

8 The last thing I did was to tie a bow and place it on the top left hand corner of the sentiment panel

Birthday wishes week 4

First of all let me apologise for not posting on 8th January but I had a problem with my camera.  So this week I'm posting 2 cards I want to wish everyone a happy new year and all the best for 2015.  I don't know about you but making cards for the men in our lives can be difficult, and cause many long times thinking of what to do.  So I thought the first card I would go for a kind of elegant look which could be used for either male or female. Also I have taken it back to basics by just using paste and the stencils.  The second is again one for the men using three techniques:- Molten magic, creating a shadow and basic pasting.  I hope you like them.

Here's my birthday wish for this week:

CARD 1
Things you will need:-

Dreamweaver Stencils LS1010 Happy Birthday
                                 LJ919 Art Nouveau Flourish
Gold embossing paste
Black card
Gold Mirri card
Palette knife or spreader
Low Tack Tape
Cleaning things for stencils.

and this is how I created the card:-

1 Take a piece of Black card and apply the stencil (do this with both the flourish and the Happy Birthday) to it using the low tack tape and apply the embossing paste over the stencil with the palette knife/spreader.

2 Remove the stencils and place in water ready for cleaning.

3 While waiting for the paste to dry cut the matte and layers for the completed card.

4 Once the stencil design is dry trim to the correct size and attach to the backing card.

This is an easy card to do especially a beginner with paste.

Card 2
Here is the second card

and this is what you will need

Gold Embossing paste
Stencil brush
Versafine inkpad Sepia
A selection of the Dreamweaver Metallic FX powders
Heat Gun
Cream and black card stock
Gold Mirri Card
Palette knife/ Spreader
and this is how I created the card:-

1 Take 1 piece of cream card and attach the flourish stencil to it using low tack tape and tape around all 4 sides.  Apply the Gold paste over the Gear stencil first of all and when this is done remove the stencil and put it in water ready for cleaning.

2 Take your gear panel and using a stencil brush apply the Metallic FX powders by collecting powder and then tapping the powder over the design. You can put as much of the powder on as you like and apply as many colours as you want.

3 Once you have the powder over the design gently tap any excess powder of and use a heat gun to heat the panel.  I start by heating from underneath and after a short time I then heat from the top.  As it is heated the paste will start to bubble and get a texture to it.  Try not to over heat the panel and if it looks like it is getting over heated remove the heat gun and allow the panel to cool a little.

4 To create the shadow effect on the sentiment panel first attach the stencil to a piece of cream card on one side only, using a stencil brush and ink pad apply the colour you want your shadow to be using the rouging technique.  I make sure that the colour is quite deep so that I have a clear shadow.

5 Next clean your stencil to remove all the ink and replace the stencil back over the top of the design and carefully move the stencil down and to the right so that the plain card becomes just visible and attach the stencil back to the card around all 4 sides with the low tack tape.  Apply the gold paste, remove stencil and place in water.  This panel needs putting to the side to dry.

4 When the two panels are completely dry trim the 2 panels and cut matts and layers and complete your card.
