August as an adjective Week 4

Merriam-Webster defines august as, "marked by majestic dignity or grandeur", with synonyms such as, "dignified, distinguished, imposing, portly, solemn, staid, and stately". Now, I don't know just how dignified and stately the Dream Team can become for an entire month, but we are all going to give it a try! How about trying along with us, and linking YOUR creations to the inlinkz tool below for a chance to win the wildest stencil design your little heart is screaming for.

I've still got Christmas on my mind following on from the collaboration with Woodware a couple of weeks ago.  I have lots of Christmas favourites from Dreamweaver stencils and I have used one of them for my creation this week.  'The Christmas Tree' can be used in numerous ways and using the various techniques that the Dreamweaver products lend themselves to I suppose the skys the limit.  For instance instead of doing the full size tree you could make it into smaller trees by simply omitting layers.  I decided I would go big.

Here is what you will need:-
White, black and silver mirri card
Matte black paste
Crackle paste
Decorative chalks
Dreamweaver Stencil LX7003
Woodware clear magic stamp set FRS175
Stencil brush or sponge dauber
Silver ink pad
Low tack tape
Palette knife or spreader
Equipment for cleaning and drying stencil

and here is what you do:-

1 Take a piece of white card and attach stencil on all 4 sides using low tack tape.  Apply black matte paste, remove stencil wash, clean and dry. Place paste design to one side to dry completely.

2 Re attach the stencil to the original paste piece and tack around all 4 sides, apply the crackle paste.  Remove stencil wash clean and dry, the design panel needs putting to one side and allowing to dry completely.  I left mine over night ( I'm over cautious).

3 Take either a stencil brush or a dauber and apply the decorative chalks over the whole tree. i didn't put the stencil back on as I wanted the backing card to take some of the chalk colour.  I you want a very sharp clean design then you can reapply the stencil and then apply the chalk.

4 The next step is to trim the white card down to just out side the stencil design, and to cut the matts and layers.

5 Stamp the message in the top corners using a silver ink pad.

6 Put all the layers together and your card is complete.

This card does take a little longer with having the 2 layers of embossing paste, but I feel that it is worth it. I think it is quite elegant and fits the bill.

Heres what the rest of the team have been doing this week

If you are in the UK or Europe and would like to purchase any of the products for the above project they are all available from The Stampman or your local Woodware Stockist and Notions Marketing in the USA..
