Quick and cute week 2

In a flurry of a hurry? This month the Dream Team are all about the Quick and Cute...whether that be cards, gifts, wrapping, or tags...we have sleigh-loads of ideas! Play along by posting your creations using the Inlinkz tool on theDream It Up! blog, for a chance to win the stencil of your choice, and a possible bonus stencil for usingDreamweaver products in your Quick and Cute project! Here's what fun I've been up to this week:

I know that this month its Quick and Cute, but I've just done the Quick part this week, the reason being I wanted to show that a whole stencil design does not have to be used, only part of it.  To do this you need to mask the part of the design you don't want leaving only the areas that you do. I used low tack tape for my masking on this card as the area I didn't want was quite an involved shape.

Here's what fun I've been up to this week:

This is what you will need to complete the card:-
Dreamweaver stencils LL305 Thinking of you
Dreamweaver Stencil LX7022 Vintage Decor
Small stencil brush
Low tack tape
Gold Embossing Paste
Colorbox Farmhouse Ink pad
Black and white card stock
Piece of narrow ribbom
1/16 inch hole punch
Pallette knife/spreader
Adhesive
Heat Gun (not a big necessity)
Cleaning things for stencils

and this is what I did:-

1 Decide which you part of stencil you DONT want to use and mask this area off.

2 Place the stencil to the right hand side of a piece of white card, (the tape that is masking off the area will hold the stencil in place whilst the colour is being added).  Using a small stencil brush stipple the colour on to the design, and as always remember you can add colour but you can't take it away.  I used the green of the Farmhouse ink pad.  Once this side is complete take the stencil to the left hand side and repeat the process.  You can match the design so they look like they are a whole design

3 At this stage there are a couple of options for getting this ink dry, you can put the design to the side and allow it to dry or you can use a heat gun and give the design a quick blast of heat.

4 Take the Thinking of You stencil and place in the centre of the design an exact position can be achieved but using the stippled design as a guide.  Take low tack tape and attach the stencil to the main design and tape around all 4 sides. This will not only hold the stencil when applying the paste but also prevent the main design being contaminated with the paste. Use the palette knife/spreader to apply the paste to the panel.  Remove the stencil and clean.  Leave the paste design to dry.

5 Once the paste is completely dry take a 1/16th inch hole punch and punch 2 holes in the top so that the ribbon can be tied in a bow at the top.

6 The final stage as always is to matt and layer the card together.

Thats it card completed, hope you like it.

I'd love to receive a comment from you before you head on to the rest of the "B" team:

Thankful and thoughtful week 4

As we officially head into the holiday season, the Dream Team are challenging all of our followers to be especially "Thankful and Thoughtful" during the month of November. We hope that you will link your creations with this theme in mind on the Dream It Up! blog using the Inlinkz tool. Our "thanks" to you is providing you with the opportunity to win the stencil of your choice, and a bonus stencil of our choosing could be yours for using Dreamweaver product(s) in your artwork.

I thought that this week I would do a 'thinking of you design', again useful for so many occasions.  The design doesn't have to be over the top.

I'm posting this for you today:

This is what you will need:-

3 pieces of white card
2 pieces of silver mirri board
Star border peel off
Transferable flock sheet ...Blue
Stampendous crystal glitter
Dreamweaver stencils LL305 Thinking of you
                                 LL3045 Ornament
Low tack tape
2 different patterned papers
Stencil brush
Card blank (DL size)
Splendour Circus ink pad
Ribbon
Soap (to make release of stencil from double sided adhesive sheet easy and not damage stencil)
Double sided adhesive sheet.

This is how to complete the card:-

1 Start with the greeting panel, attach the Thinking of you stencil to a piece of white card using low tack tape, take ink from the ink pad and apply to the
panel using a stencil brush and a rouging movement, inking the design through. Remember to start off light as you can always add to the colour but you can't take colour away.

2 Remove the stencil and then lightly go round the outer edge of the panel to soften the white card.  I find it easier to take ink from the pad and dab off the excess on to scrap paper or card and then to rouge round the edge.  This panel is then matted on to a piece of silver mirri board.

3 The ornament panel is started by placing a piece of double sided adhesive sheet on to white card, the protective cover is removed.  Next use the Hawaiian soap and cover the entire back of the stencil with the soap.  Place this down on to the double sided adhesive piece.  The soap helps as an easy release mechanism for getting the adhesive from the stencil.

4 My silver peel offs had the negatives of the star border. The border was placed across the centre of the ornament, and the negative stars were randomly placed in the rest of the ornament.  I made sure that the peel offs were attached properly and used the waxed side of one of the protective sheets to rub the peel offs to the adhesive. The panel is next covered with the crystal glitter, I pressed this glitter down well on to the adhesive sheet.  I kept the stencil in place all time up to this point.

5 Remove the stencil and taking the transferable flock rub this on to the remaining sticky areas of the panel.  Keep checking the coverage by lifting the flock sheet and if necessary continue to rub firmly so that a good coverage it achieved.  (An alternative to the transferable flock sheet is to use loose flock , scatter this over the panel and press down firmly.

6 This panel is trimmed and layered onto a piece of white card, this is then applied to the silver mirri with 3D foam squares.

7 The 2 Patterned papers are matted and layered on to each other and the 2 decorative panels placed on the top, and this is then placed on to the backing card.

8 Th last step is to tie a ribbon round the spine of the card.  I only knotted the ribbon.

That's it your card is done.

By the way, the Dream Team are very THANKFUL when our followers are THOUGHTFUL enough to leave us a nice comment on our posts! Here's the "B" team lineup for this week, as well as our very special guest designer, Linda Neff!

An InLinkz Link-up

Thankful and thoughtful week 2

As we officially head into the holiday season, the Dream Team are challenging all of our followers to be especially "Thankful and Thoughtful" during the month of November. We hope that you will link your creations with this theme in mind on the Dream It Up! blog using the Inlinkz tool. Our "thanks" to you is providing you with the opportunity to win the stencil of your choice, and a bonus stencil of our choosing could be yours for using Dreamweaver product(s) in your artwork.

After the festive season I think its always good to send a special thanks to those you have spent time with. So this is an idea for sending the special people those thoughts.

I'm posting this for you today:

Here is what I used:
Stylized Dahlia Dreamweaver Die DG743
Dual Alphabet and number Dreamweaver Die DD005
Cream Card
Black card
Gold Mirri card
2 patterned coordinating patterns papers
Big Shot die cutting machine (or machine of your choice)
Small piece of fine black lace
Gold raffia ribbon
Adhesives and 3D foam squares

This is how I completed the card:

1 Take a piece of black card, gold mirri card and 1st piece of patterned paper and cut them all using the stylized dahlia die.  Make sure that you keep all the small pieces the are cut ready for placing back into the black design.Trim the black piece of card to the size you want for the first layer of the front panel.

2 Matt the black panel to the 2nd patterned paper and at this point I cut and attached the rest of the matts to each other.

3 I used a 7''x 7'' cream card and trimmed about 1 1/2'' ( 4cm ) from the front edge of the card, and cut a matt from the 2nd patterned paper and attached this to the inside outer edge of the card.

4 I cut a strip of gold mirri card about 3/4'' ( 2cm) and wrapped the fine black lace round this before sticking to the centre of the pattern paper on the inside back of the card.

5 Using wet glue I then started to place the pieces of the stylized dahlia into the black front panel, I only used the outer fine outline of the gold mirri, trimming of all the stalks and leaves, all of the patterned flower petals from cut from the 1st patterned paper.

6 The word 'Thanks' was cut from black and gold mirri card.  I have found the easiest way to get the letters inserted into the blocks is to lay the block piece face down and then insert the letter into this and then attach the 2 together by placing double sided adhesive over the back.

7 The letters were then placed down the back edge over the black lace.

8 Finally I tied the gold raffia ribbon round the spine of the card.

Job done, card completed. This card can be used for any occasion but in this case a Special thanks card.

By the way, the Dream Team are very THANKFUL when our followers are THOUGHTFUL enough to leave us a nice comment on our posts! Here's the "B" team lineup for this week, as well as our very special guest designer, Linda Neff!

Hallowthanksmas week 5

Can you tell that sometimes Dream Team's "Fearless Leader", Pam Hornschu, has a hard time deciding on monthly challenges? Since the team will be taking turns all month with the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween, and we have done a Christmas collaboration with Stampendous and Core'dinations the 13th - 17th, the confusion should be understandable. Therefore...happy HallowThanksMas! As usual, we'd love for you to play along with the challenge and link your creations to the Inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog. Just in case you are wondering...NO, YOU DO NOT NEED TO POST SOMETHING WITH ALL THREE HOLIDAYS ON IT! However, you get bonus points for actually using Dreamweaver stencils and product on your creations! And bonus points might actually earn you an extra stencil as our monthly winner...just sayin'!

For the last post of October (where has October gone) I decided to use one of the new Dreamweaver embossing folders.  I was very impressed with the depth of the embossed image.  With Christmas only 8 weeks away this is another really quick and easy card which I think is pretty.  The bonus is that it didn't take long to create.  My colouring was deliberately blurred as I wanted the design to look like the lights were shining through the tree.

So here is my project

This is what you will need:-
Dreamweaver Embossing folder FG651
White and black card stock
Deep lavender coloured paper
Different colour and sized self adhesive gems
Colorbox pigment ink pad Gypsy
Stencil brushes
Big Shot die cutting machine (or machine of your choice)Gold ink pad

This is what to do:-

1 Take a piece of white card and place in the embossing folder and put this through your machine.

2 Remove the card from the folder and using stencil brushes apply the colour from the Gypsy ink pad.  Apply the colour gently as you can always add colour but you can't take it away.  I applied the colour using the rouging technique.

3 Once the colour has been applied trim around the embossed design leaving about 1/8th inch border.

4 Take a selection of different coloured and sized self adhesive gems and attach them where the dots are embossed.

5 Put the card together and finish off with 3 pearl self adhesive gems in the top and bottom opposite corners of the card.  Tie a ribbon around the spine of the card.

There is your card, quite pretty.

The team will be taking turns to fill the quota of 31 days on the Dream It Up! blog, and posting on their own blogs as well. Be sure to leave them lots of love as this is truly a challenge for many of them! Here is today's post from : Gill Wilson

Here is my project for Day 30

The products I used:-
Dark Blue card, White co-ordinations card, Dreamweaver Stencil LL3015, Black matt embossing paste, Stampendous stamps CRP166 and CRR131, Black Stazon ink pad.

Here is what I did:-

1 The outer frame was stamped using the Raven stamp and the aperture cut out.
2 The background behind the frame was stamped on to the co-ordinations white card using the black stazon.
3 The Acetate window behind the frame was done with the Stencil and then black matt paste applied over this and it was left to completely dry overnight.
4 The layers were distressed and the card put together
