August as an adjective Week 4

Merriam-Webster defines august as, "marked by majestic dignity or grandeur", with synonyms such as, "dignified, distinguished, imposing, portly, solemn, staid, and stately". Now, I don't know just how dignified and stately the Dream Team can become for an entire month, but we are all going to give it a try! How about trying along with us, and linking YOUR creations to the inlinkz tool below for a chance to win the wildest stencil design your little heart is screaming for.

I've still got Christmas on my mind following on from the collaboration with Woodware a couple of weeks ago.  I have lots of Christmas favourites from Dreamweaver stencils and I have used one of them for my creation this week.  'The Christmas Tree' can be used in numerous ways and using the various techniques that the Dreamweaver products lend themselves to I suppose the skys the limit.  For instance instead of doing the full size tree you could make it into smaller trees by simply omitting layers.  I decided I would go big.

Here is what you will need:-
White, black and silver mirri card
Matte black paste
Crackle paste
Decorative chalks
Dreamweaver Stencil LX7003
Woodware clear magic stamp set FRS175
Stencil brush or sponge dauber
Silver ink pad
Low tack tape
Palette knife or spreader
Equipment for cleaning and drying stencil

and here is what you do:-

1 Take a piece of white card and attach stencil on all 4 sides using low tack tape.  Apply black matte paste, remove stencil wash, clean and dry. Place paste design to one side to dry completely.

2 Re attach the stencil to the original paste piece and tack around all 4 sides, apply the crackle paste.  Remove stencil wash clean and dry, the design panel needs putting to one side and allowing to dry completely.  I left mine over night ( I'm over cautious).

3 Take either a stencil brush or a dauber and apply the decorative chalks over the whole tree. i didn't put the stencil back on as I wanted the backing card to take some of the chalk colour.  I you want a very sharp clean design then you can reapply the stencil and then apply the chalk.

4 The next step is to trim the white card down to just out side the stencil design, and to cut the matts and layers.

5 Stamp the message in the top corners using a silver ink pad.

6 Put all the layers together and your card is complete.

This card does take a little longer with having the 2 layers of embossing paste, but I feel that it is worth it. I think it is quite elegant and fits the bill.

Heres what the rest of the team have been doing this week

Well the final day of the Woodware and Dreamweaver collaboration has arrived, and I can say I have loved every minute of it, there has been so much inspiration and hopefully you will have some ideas of your Christmas cards for this year.

Todays card is the meaning of Christmas - 'The Nativity', and I have gone for quite simple.
.

This is what you will need:-
Dreamweaver stencil LL554
Versamark ink pad
Stampendous detail white embossing powder
Glitter card
Pale blue patterned paper
Woodware Clear Magic Stamp set FRS315
Dreamweaver stencil packaging
Black card
White card
Finger dauber
Heat gun

and this is how to create the card:-

Attach the stencil to the black card, and using a dauber and the Versamark ink pad apply the ink, make sure that you apply a good layer of ink.  Remove the stencil and cover the design with the Detail white embossing powder, remove any excess powder and heat the design with a heat gun.

The next step is to matt and layer the image and finally to stamp the greeting at the side, there are not too many stages to the card but its simple and shows the true meaning of Christmas. Hope you enjoy.

That is my card and my last for the week, the rest of the team have been working  and here are their projects.

The fifth day has arrived, and no Christmas would be complete without the mention of mistletoe, its all part of the traditional Christmas. I think we all a traditional Christmas and here is my 'traditional' project.

This what I used:-
Dreamweaver stencil Merry Christmas
Gold Embossing paste
Palette knife
Low tack tape
Quickie glue pen
Acrylic block
Stampendous Crystal Glitter
Colorbox Farmhouse ink pad
Red Tombow pen
Versafine Vintage sepia and smoked grey

and this is what you will do:-
Use a scrap of cream card and stamp the Mistletoe image towards the top of the card using Versafine black onyx.  Colouring the image was done as follows, the bow was coloured with the red tombow pen, the mistletoe leaves were coloured with the green ink on the ColorBox Farmhouse and a water brush, and the mistletoe berries were coloured with the smoke grey Versafine ink pad.  To complete the berries I coloured over the top with a quickie glue pen, once the ink had dried to clear I covered with the Stampendous crystal glitter and removed the excess back to the pot.

The last part of the panel was the Merry Christmas.  Take the stencil and attach to the panel with low tack tape on all 4 sides.  Apply the embossing paste using the palette knife.  Remove the stencil and put the panel to the side to dry, and wash the stencil.

Once the paste has completely dried put the card together and then using the rouging technique use a stencil brush and vintage sepia ink pad to tone the cream card down.

Theres your card, hope you like it.  The rest of the team have been creating for you. Here are the projects they have completed.

Christmas is still on our minds here on the Woodware / Dreamweaver Collaboration.........my thought today is what would Christmas be without a Christmas Tree.   So of course my card had to have a Christmas Tree.

I thought that would use the Dreamweaver Dies , I wanted depth to my 'forest' and a stamped image.

This is what you will need:-
A5 sheet of white card
Dreamweaver Tree Line  Die DG745
Gold mirri card
Black card
Woodware Clear Magic JGS356
Ribbon
Versamark ink pad
Dreamweaver Metallic FX - goldfinch
Stencil Brush

and this how to create the card:-

To create the Tree Line background cut one black and one gold mirri card using the Tree Line Die.  Cut both of these in half, this means that you can alter the width of you tree line ( the gap that is created will be covered by the stamped image. Layer the two pieces so that there is shadow showing.

The centre panel is created by stamping the tree image using the Versamark ink pad and apply the Dreamweaver Metallic mica powder with a stencil brush over the stamped image.  The mica powder attaches to the Versamark as this is a sticky ink pad.  Trim the black panel down and matt on to gold mirri card and leave only a very fine border.

The next step is to apply the ribbon and finally stamp the sentiment in the bottom corners of the card.

There's your card quick and simple, if you have a lot of cards to make these are really quick.

The rest of the team have been busy as well today.......check out what they have been doing:-

 Debs Frost

Well the weather has been summery, the children are still on school holidays, and here we are preparing for Christmas.  Today's card I have gone back to the days of light boxes and embossing tools.  I only wanted to have and embossed border around the stamped design, I must admit I always enjoyed the manual way of embossing, so I found this card a lovely project to make

This is what you will need:-
Light Box
Large embossing tool
Woodware Clear Magic JGS349
Dreamweaver stencil LJ863
Versafine Deep Lagoon
Versamark ink pad
Stampendous Golden Ocean Embossing powder
Quicie Glue Pen
Dreamweaver Metallic FX Goldfinch
Dreamweaver Stencil packaging
Blue Adhesive Gems
Stencil brush

and this is how I created the card:-

Stamp the Christmas tree image in the centre of a piece of white card using a Versamark ink pad and then cover with Stampendous Ocean Blue embossing powder, remove the excess powder back into the jar and heat the design with a heat gun. This powder is lovely as it gives a blue embossed image with a gold sparkle.  Once this has been done turn the design over and on the back of the card draw a fine pencil line about 1/4'' from the outer edge of the stamped design.

Attach the stencil to the front of the panel making sure that the design is in the centre of the stencil. Using the light box start to emboss the stencil design but only between the pencil line and the out edge of the stencil design, the result is an embossed border. (You are working on the back of the card).  The manual embossing takes a little time but is certainly worth it. All four sides are worked, the stencil can then be removed.  The stencil brush is used to apply the colour to the design and I used the rouging technique, I worked more colour on the outer edge and very soft colouring towards the centre.

The heart of the tree was coloured in using the Quickie Glue pen and once the glue showed clear I put the Dreamweaver Metallic FX powder over using a dry stencil brush.  The star was filled with a thicker glue and then Dreamweaver Metallic FX was applied and mixed to give a more textured effect.

Once all the layers were completed they were added to a white card.

That's the card done, hope you like it, heres the rest of the teams projects for today.

                                                                        Debs Frost
Well here we are Day 2 and I am thinking what I need to do for Christmas, its so far away, and yet it will be here before we know it.  So on to card 2.  I know Stentangle is popular but rather than doing the more 'formal' design', why not just doodle.  So here's my version of a doodling card.

This is what I used:-
White card
Silver mirri board
Dark blue patterned paper
Dreamweaver Nesting Frames DD001
Dreamweaver Stencil Ornament LG674
Sakura Metallic silver pen
Adhesive gems clear
Versafine Majestic Blue
Woodware Clear Magic JGS357

and this is how I created the card:-

Take a piece of white card and the largest of the nesting frame dies and cut the panel.  The stencil is then placed centrally on the panel and using the Metallic Silver Pen draw around the design, remove the stencil.  I coloured the hanger and top of the ornament.  The design is divided into smaller areas by drawing straight and wavy lines. The time has come to doodle, just do what you like. The areas are filled with your doodles.using the Metallic Silver Pen.

When the ornament has been doodled then add the gems, I used 3 along the bottom and the 2 sides, and above the hanger.

Finally blend the Majestic Blue ink pad over the panel using a large stencil brush, the card is then assembled using the silver mirri and dark blue patterned paper and white card.  The message is stamped in Versafine Black Onyx at the bottom of the card.

The card can be as involved as you like, the doodles are your choice leading to it being quick or slow to make.  Enjoy doodling.

That is my card for today, here's what the rest of the team have been doing.  Enjoy.

There will be more tomorrow. Till then.  Thanks for stopping by.
