Woodware collaboration Day 1

Yes! It's that time of year again! The time when we inspire crafters on both sides of the "pond" with a mix of both Dreamweaver and Woodware UK* products for the holidays! Six days, SIX, of beautiful, elegant, merry, cute, artsy, and craftsy projects to have you heading out to your local stores or internet sites to buy these goodies immediately!

Of course, there will be prizes as well. Three prize packages will be given to three commenters during this week's posts on the team's blogs, including five stencils and one nested die set. You can have an opportunity to win these goodies by leaving some holiday sweetness for each team member posting each day, to be one of the three winners for the week. Here are the team members that are inspiring you today:

Well I think by the end of the week we will be able to say Christmas has arrived.  I must admit that when the collaboration with Woodware was spoken about and it being a Christmas week, it really did make me realise that if you numerous cards to make then starting early is far better than waiting till the last minute............... that does sound familiar.

Woodware have newly released soon new stamps and they are lovely and combine really well with the Dreamweaver  products.

For my first card this week I have used a stencil that isn't predominantly Christmas it really can be used at any time for any theme.  I thought it work well with Christmas and put with one of the new Woodware stamp sets it seemed perfect.  The combination of stamps and stencils can lead to interesting designs and techniques.

The stamped panel uses both the stencil and stamp - I created my own background and then stamped over the top, before putting on 2-3 layers of Stampendous embossing powder over the top.

This is what you will need:-
White card
Dreamweaver Stencil LJ899
Stampendous Crystal Embossing powder
Versamark ink pad
Versafine ink pad:- Onyx black,Olympia green
Scrap of Red (1'' wide) and green textured card stock
Large stencil brush
Low tack tape
Red adhesive gems
Die cutting machine (mines the Big Shot)
Dreamweaver rubber mat
Woodware Clear Magic Stamp JGS358 Holly Panel
Scraps of white card
8'' x 8'' patterned red paper
A selection of green ink pads for the Strie technique.  I used 4 different colours.
Woodware  Clear Magic Stamp JGS189

and this I how I created the card:-

The background.... Take the stencil and attach to white card, use the rubber mat and pass through the die cutting machine to emboss the design, remove the stencil.  I trimmed the piece back at this stage to the size I wanted, There was about 1/8th inch outside the stencil design.  I then applied the colour to this panel using the 4 different greens in no particular order.  I did work the whole piece with one colour at a time.  Remember you can always add colour but you can't take it away.  Once you had the depth and shading of colour you want put the piece to the side and cut the backing sheet.  I added 11/2'' to the height of the stencilled piece and 1/2'' to the width.  Next I cut my stencilled piece in half, the scrap of red textured card is placed in the centre of these 2 pieces.  All these pieces can be assembled and the background panel is done.

The front panel .....This piece starts out using the same stencil as we used for the background, i attached the stencil to a piece of white card and used the rouge method of applying colour with a stencil brush.  The green I used was from the ColorBox Farmhouse ink pad.  The Holly panel stamp was then stamped over the background using the Black Onyx Versafine pad.  Once all these layers were dry (you can give them a quick blast with a heat gun to speed up the process) I then cut out the image and covered the surface in versamark ink, before covering with Stampendous Crystal Embossing powder, removed the excess and then heated this with the heat gun, repeating this process 3 or 4 times in total, you will achieve a glazed tile effect.  put this piece to one side and stamp the same image again on to a scrap of green card.  The leaves are cut from this piece and then stuck to the glazed image.  Where the black dots are on the design i used different sized adhesive gems, applying on to each dot.  the front panel is complete.

The message panel was simply stamped using the versafine black onyx pad and matted and layered on to red and cream squares.  Once all the panels are done put the card together.  A fairly quick card but I think worth it.

Heres what everyone else has been doing this today.

If you are in the UK or Europe and would like to purchase any of the products for the above project they are all available from The Stampman or your local Woodware Stockist and Notions Marketing in the USA.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your crafting
